Short Circuit

One of many reasons why I am nerdier than you are.

While I was delivering my mail today, I had a weird thought. I’ve never seen the Pixar animated movie “Wall-E”, but I know why I don’t want to. That nice little cuddly robot looks like a close rip-off of a grand childhood memory of mine. This memory comes in the form of a movie called Short Circuit, and a loveable robot named Johnny 5:

I am not the first person to point it out, and I definitely won’t be the last. Though the physical resemblance is alike, beyond that the characters are totally different, but I digress…

This all made me think about how much I used to love the two short circuit movies, and that made me decide that I wanted to watch them. After a couple calls, I was able to find a couple copies and I picked them up earlier tonight. I plan to watch these both tonight and/or tomorrow and revel in my giddy childhood nostalgia. For anyone who has no idea what the hell this movie is, here are the trailers:

Steve Guttenberg AND a wise cracking robot? WHO COULD EVER WANT MORE?

i loved wall-e, almost as much as i loved short circuit as a child… i never even stopped to consider how similiar they look. i feel like a bit of a traitor to my generation now.

I have not seen wall-e. I seriously doubt it would make me laugh as hard as I did the other night when Number 5 went off on his “No Disassemble!” freakout.
